Learn & Experience
Carol has been practicing yoga for more than 40 years and her teaching is rooted in a profound trust in the body and its wisdom. She encourages students to begin where they are, connect body and mind through the breath, practice with a light heart and have fun! She goes beyond teaching poses to teaching people.
A graduate of yoga teacher training programs with Esther Myers (author of “Yoga and You”) and Nischala Joy Devi (author of “The Healing Power of Yoga”), Carol has studied with numerous senior teachers representing a broad range of Yoga traditions. Her style is a vibrant blend of elements drawn from these varied practices with emphasis on grounding the body, lengthening the spine and cultivating the breath.
Private & Group Classes
Carol offers individual yoga therapy at Duke Integrative Medicine on Duke University’s Center for Living Campus in Durham, NC. She also teaches several group classes, including Gentle Yoga, designed to be accessible to those with health challenges.
With her colleague Kimberly Carson, Carol co-directs the Integrative Yoga for Seniors Professional Training, which helps yoga instructors work safely and effectively with older adults. The Yoga for Seniors mission is to advance the art and science of adapting the yoga practice to older bodies, minds and spirits.
Workshops & Events
Carol’s talks and workshops are designed to help people bring healing movement into their lives—often with a focus on a particular ailment such as back pain or stress reduction. She will tailor a program to meet your needs, such as lunchtime seminars in the workplace and presentations at conferences and meetings.
